  • Stored locally in a SQLite database

Transaction Chat

How does the AI understand my transactions?

The Transaction Chat uses OpenAI GPT to parse natural language. It:

  • Extracts transaction details from your text
  • Asks clarifying questions for missing information
  • Maintains conversation context
  • Falls back to pattern matching if AI is unavailable

What if the AI misunderstands me?

  • Use the Rollback button to undo any transaction
  • Try being more specific with amounts and prices
  • Use the quick action examples as templates
  • Switch to the Manual Form tab if needed

Transactions

Can I edit or delete transactions?

Currently, you can:

  • Rollback: Undo a transaction (reverses the portfolio impact)
  • Future update will add full edit capability

What's the difference between rollback and delete?

  • Rollback: Marks transaction as cancelled, preserves history
  • Transaction stays in database but doesn't affect portfolio calculations

Cost Basis

Why track cost basis?

Cost basis tracking provides:

  • Accurate unrealized gain/loss calculations
  • Tax reporting information
  • Performance analysis by purchase
  • FIFO/LIFO lot tracking

Do I need to add every purchase?

For accurate results, yes! Add all purchases to get:

  • Correct average cost basis
  • True unrealized gains/losses
  • Complete purchase history
